BENTWOOD Collection

In the 1830’s Michael Thonet a German-Austrian cabinetmaker commenced his attempt to make furniture from glued and bent timber. Almost two decades later in 1851, his classic bentwood chair debuted at the World Fair in London.

Eastern Europe is no longer the sole domain of bentwood manufacture. Producers in other regions are now producing bentwood ranges and their derivatives using the same basic bending principles assisted by modern technology.
